Doxie & Windows 8
Apparent's Doxie (DX100) and Doxie U. (DX100U) USB scanner models are not yet Windows 8 certified. Read below for how to bypass and install anyway.
Our computer-less models, Doxie One (DX1) and Doxie Go (DX200), are fully compatible with Windows 8. If you have one of these models, there's no need to follow these instructions.
Doxie (DX100) is not yet Windows 8 certified. You can still use your Doxie with Windows 8 -- here's how:
1. Download and install the latest Doxie app for Windows at www.getdoxie.com/start
2. During installation, you'll be prompted to disconnect and reconnect Doxie -- this won't work, because the drivers haven't installed properly.
Instead, proceed to follow the steps below.
3. Bring up Charms by moving the mouse to the lower right corner of the screen.
4. Go to Settings.
5. Click on "Change PC settings" at the bottom.
6. Click on General.
7. In the Advanced startup section, click the [Restart now] button.
8. Click on Troubleshoot.
9. Click on Advanced options.
10. Click on Startup Settings.
11. Click the [Restart] button and wait for the computer to reboot.
12. Press (7) Disable driver signature enforcement -- Windows will start.
13. Proceed to install Doxie's driver by clicking the appropriate link here: 32-bit Windows, 64-bit Windows
You'll get an installation warning for installing an uncertified driver – choose "install this driver software anyway".
14. If Doxie is already plugged in, disconnect it, wait 5 seconds, then reconnect.
15. Launch the Doxie app, and you're ready to scan.
16. Restart after finishing this process to re-enable driver signature enforcement.
